How to occupy your Space in the business world

In business, you must recognize your uniqueness in the market place. Why would a client buy from you when there is someone who can sell cheaper, deliver faster and give other incentive?

I watch business turn bitter because we fail to take our space, run our race at our pace. As important is profit, we must not forget to appreciate the well of that profit. Human being are the well that produce profit.

Any product someone can buy can also go viral. The ability to manage a customer to get going is an art. If a sale stops with a client, it’s a bad deal. Remember, anything you bring to the market, there is an already existing competitor or someone on the move to take that space. The race against a competitor can be so fierce that you can lose your values trying to fight it. The safe heaven is growing into your space and dominate a sector making you a monopoly of the game.

When I did my wedding, I have a very good friend who is a photographer. A nice guy that has come a long way with me. He is a passionate about the business and he took some creative shoot on me both on pre wedding photos and the wedding proper. He has a space in my heart because I can’t even think of anyone to recommend base on his support. He collected lesser than the normal guy.

After my wedding, I was owing him some balance and he was impatient with me. He was eager to post some of his works done on my wedding on social media so to increase followers but never gave me those pictures till date. I tried all I could to get those pictures which was like a memory of my most treasured moment but couldn’t. he questions is ‘why did he not deliver as promised? Could it be because the money has been paid in full? Is it because am a friend and will always understand?

It could have been for any reason, however, be it as it may, he lost the space in my heart because the last memory will always be attached to the personality either bitter or sweet. On my special day, he stole my show.

The process of losing that space didn’t happen overnight as he started being cranky when I call him and avoids my calls. The build-up of the negative emotion came to a height and started flowing over. The relationship started going negative just because a skill photographer was not looking at the bigger picture.

Never see a customer as a person, always see a customer as a web site. You can connect to anyone through anyone is you can take your space. If you are a tailor and your client still consult other tailors in making cloth decision, it’s an indication that your influence is not overwhelming. Until you make client to fond of you that they think of you every moment, you have work to do.

Tips

Identity your unique selling point.

In every market, there is a fingerprint you bring on the table. Always capitals on it. The basic principle is the same but the method of delivering is based on experience and personality. Even if you are scared of using it, just keep using it because all your experience for that purpose.

Master your craft.

Know the business of your business. Knowing how to snap picture is not enough, you need to understand the brand you are building.

Examine your Motive

Ask yourself why you want a particular profession, what so you see and how do you intent to achieve that before you kick start. Don’t just be passionate, let your passion be guided by a compass(ion)

Common sense

Why would you lose a client when one client can get you 6 clients? Its common sense to note that there are people you can’t reach until you pass through some people. Treat a customer as a king that has a domain and if you impress the king, his subject will support you at the word of the king. Would you prefer going in the street looking for a client against a client looking for you?

Exceed expectation

Solve a problem and exceed expectation. Go beyond what you are paid for. Service is a platform to advertise yourself. An opportunity to serve must not be abused by intense focus on what to gain at the moment. No one can truly pay you for your worth, however, you get better going beyond.

Create a system for a come back

Never allow a business end with a client. A customer may appreciate your work but may never recommend you. It’s your duty to engage the client with a workable system either by incentive or other free services. Your brand must be the tip of someone’s mind to leave their business for yours. Make people to mind your business.

Use technology to enhance the human experience.

Manage a client with the support of technology. There is a human experience that must be enhance with technology like noting important dates in their lives and make it memorable. Most of human needs have been automated and therefore you can just take advantage of the existing technology to take control of your business.

The new Era will be about dominance. There is a war on going in the market place and the earlier we identity the sector we want to play in and commit to it, the better for us.
